The Forum
Goals and Objectives
In August 2019, The Civil Forum created a public platform to discuss the promises and challenges of Digital Citizenship as Kyrgyzstan embarked upon an ambitious government led Digital Transformation Strategy. The Forum brought together government, business and the private sector.
The Civic forum had three key objectives:
- To discuss and identify key issues that will impact on Digital Citizenship in Kyrgyzstan
- To brainstorm key challenges that can be addressed by civil society and business
- To develop advice and recommendations for government action
The forum took place as a one day event and consist of a series of facilitated open round tables.

Conclusion
Civil Forum created a public platform between representatives of government, businesses and civil society to stimulate discussions on opportunities and challenges of digital citizenship in Kyrgyzstan.
As a result of the forum, three broad topics were identified as themes for SanaripThon:
- Security and privacy of personal data
- Access to data for better governance, economic opportunities and accountability
- Digital skills for digital economy
